Prof. Dr. Thomas Bartz-Beielstein is once again organizing the Evolutionary Computation in Practice (ECiP) track at this year’s Genetic and Evolutionary Computation Conference (GECCO 2026). GECCO takes place from 13 to 17 July 2026 in San Antonio de Belén near Alajuela, Costa Rica; the ECiP session is scheduled for Thursday, 16 July 2026, 17:00–18:00.

Since 2002 — for more than two decades — ECiP has connected academic research with industrial practice. Renowned speakers from academia and industry share how evolutionary optimization is applied in real-world projects beyond the textbook. The track is held in high regard within the community and is a fixture of the GECCO program.

Two speakers have already confirmed for 2026: Nicolás Álvarez Gil (ArcelorMittal Global R&D, Spain) and Ryoki Hamano (CyberAgent, Inc., Japan). Further program details will appear soon on the ECiP website.
