CfP: SPECIAL SESSION „Particle Swarm Optimization“

Part of evo*2026 – EvoApplications (International Conference on the Applications of Evolutionary Computation)
https://www.evostar.org/2026/evoapps/

8-10 April 2026 – Toulouse, France

Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), introduced by Kennedy, Eberhart, and Shi in the mid-1990s, has grown into one of the most influential and widely used algorithms in evolutionary computation. The goal of this Special Session is to bring together leading researchers, practitioners, and all enthusiasts of PSO under one roof, fostering lively discussions, the exchange of fresh ideas, and the sharing of latest theoretical advances, novel applications, and historical perspectives on the algorithm.

We invite submissions on (but not limited to) the following areas:

Theory and practice of Particle Swarm Optimization
Cutting-edge modern applications of PSO
Novel ideas and out-of-the-box variants of PSO
Reports of PSO’s superiority in specific domains and applications
Historical and retrospective studies of PSO and its authors
New mechanisms and operators for PSO
Constraint handling in PSO, Convergence and stagnation analysis
PSO with evolutionary operators
Discrete and combinatorial versions of PSO
Multi- and many-objective PSO
Hyper-parameters optimization with PSO

Important dates:

  • Submission deadline: 1 November 2025 (AoE)
  • Notification of acceptance: 10 January 2026
  • Camera-ready: 24 January 2026
  • Conference dates: 8-10 April, 2026
