Prof. Dr. Thomas Bartz-Beielstein is very pleased to be invited to the Dagstuhl research meeting „Better Benchmarking Setups for Optimisation: Design, Curation and Long-Term Evolution“ (Oct 29–31, 2025). The seminar brings together leading experts to advance next-generation benchmarking for black-box optimization, with a focus on transparent experimental design, machine-interpretable protocols, rigorous reproducibility, and well-documented algorithm configuration. Discussions will also reflect on the evolution from the classical BBOB suite toward SBOX-COST, where bounds and the distribution of optima are made explicit.

The Schloss Dagstuhl – Leibniz-Zentrum für Informatik GmbH (LZI, Leibniz Center for Informatics) was established at Dagstuhl in 1990. Following the model of the mathematical center at Oberwolfach, the center is installed in a very remote and relaxed location in the countryside. The Leibniz Center is located in a historic country house, Schloss Dagstuhl (Dagstuhl Castle).

As the first author and organizer of the well-known paper „Benchmarking in Optimization: Best Practice and Open Issues“ (more than 180 citations, see Google Scholar) , Prof. Bartz-Beielstein looks forward to contributing these perspectives and to collaborating with the optimization and benchmarking community. Sincere thanks go to the organizers (Anna Kononova (Leiden University, NL) and Olaf Mersmann (Hochschule des Bundes für öffentliche Verwaltung – Brühl, DE) for the invitation.
